1:1 Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is delighted to partner with a highly regarded mainstream primary school in Tulse Hill, who seeks for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team to support pupil with challenging behaviour/SEN, commencing September 2024. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journey of a young learner and is an amazing opportunity for aspiring Teachers, Psychologists and Therapists to gain experience supporting vulnerable learners at first hand.

Role Overview:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualized support to a specific pupil, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum and school life. You will work closely with teaching and senior staff to deliver tailored support programmes and care, facilitating the pupil’s learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guided Support: Work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff to undertake various tasks and provide focused support.
  • Individual Care: Provide dedicated care for the 1:1 child, addressing their specific needs to promote their well-being and engagement.
  • Programme Delivery: Implement and deliver support programmes tailored to the pupil’s needs, both within the classroom and in alternative settings.
  • Learning Access: Assist the 1:1 pupil in accessing learning opportunities, ensuring they can participate fully in educational activities.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Support may be required within the classroom or outside the main teaching area, adapting to the pupil’s needs.
  • Collaborative Planning: Participate in review meetings, assisting in the planning and preparation of resources to support the pupil’s learning journey.
  • Ongoing Training: Engage in necessary training to ensure your skills and knowledge remain current and effective.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and training.
