SEN Teaching Assistant – West Croydon

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Salary: £85 – £100 per day (depending on experience)

Do you have the enthusiasm and skills to make a positive impact in a primary school environment? We are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a diverse and supportive school in West Croydon.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with primary-aged students who have various SEN, including speech and language difficulties, autism, and sensory processing needs. You will assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment and provide targeted support to help students engage with their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
  • Assist in preparing and adapting learning materials and activities to meet the needs of students with diverse learning challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO and class teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and communication difficulties, using positive reinforcement and tailored approaches.
  • Monitor and track student progress, keeping detailed records and providing feedback to the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Encourage positive interactions and social skills development among students, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

About You:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with SEN.
  • A good understanding of the primary school curriculum and strategies for supporting SEN students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to meeting the changing needs of students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or childcare are desirable.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is highly valued.
