About Us:
We are a forward-thinking and inclusive school located in Croydon, committed to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for all students. We are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team and support the learning and development of students who may require additional help, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN).

Role Overview:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN or additional learning needs in the classroom and during other school activities.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons that cater to individual learning styles.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated.
  • Help manage challenging behavior in a calm and positive manner, in line with the school’s behavior policy.
  • Work with students to develop their academic, social, and emotional skills.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Support students during break times and on school trips when required.
  • Assist with record-keeping and monitoring student progress.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or care setting.
  • A genuine interest in supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children with SEN, including autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
  • First Aid qualification (preferred but not essential).
