Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Lambeth area, seeking an experienced and dedicated KS1 Teacher for an immediate start.

As a KS1 Teacher in this PRU, you will be responsible for delivering the highest standards of education and behaviour management for children with significant SEMH needs, as well as other associated SEN. You will plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons across all National Curriculum subjects, ensuring that learning is tailored to meet each child’s individual needs and progress plans. Your role will involve assessing achievement using formative assessment milestones, writing achievement reports twice a year, and ensuring that children’s work is well-presented and up to date.

This position sits at the heart of a multi-disciplinary team, where you will work closely with other professionals to support the holistic development of the children in your class. You will play a key role in upholding the school’s child-centred ethos and values, ensuring that every child knows and remembers more as they progress through their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and appropriately challenging lessons for children with SEMH and SEN needs.
• Plan and teach all National Curriculum subjects, linking learning to individual progress plans.
• Write two achievement reports annually and assess children’s progress regularly.
• Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support each child’s unique needs.
• Lead by example in reflecting the school’s values and child-centred approach.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have QTS and experience working with children with SEMH and SEN needs, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
• Be passionate about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Possess excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to plan for a range of learning needs.
• Be ready to make a positive impact on pupils’ education and well-being.
