Are you passionate about supporting children with autism and speech & language needs in a primary school setting? Our client school is a 3-form entry primary school in Heston, West London, seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in Year 2 and provide vital support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

This role is perfect for someone with experience working in Early Years or Key Stage 1 who is eager to make a positive impact on children’s learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to children with autism and speech & language difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment in Year 2.
  • Implement and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support the child’s progress.
  • Work closely with the SEN team, parents, and external specialists to ensure every child receives tailored interventions.
  • Help develop children’s communication skills and promote social interaction through structured activities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in a primary school setting (preferably in Early Years or Key Stage 1).
  • Knowledge or experience supporting children with autism and speech & language needs.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, supporting both the class teacher and SEN team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic approach with a passion for helping children achieve their potential.
