Behaviour Mentor

Our team at Ortus Recruitment are dedicated to securing high-quality educators with long-term and full-time roles within Ofsted rated ‘Good‘ and ‘Outstanding‘ primary schools in their local area. We are currently looking for a Behaviour Mentor to provide 1:1 support in our client primary school in Southall.

  • SEMH/EBD experience

The is the perfect opportunity to gain invaluable experience supporting children with their development and work in collaboration with dedicated and experienced practitioners who will encourage you every step of the way.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering learning programmes on a 1:1 basis with a child that has behavioural difficulties. You will need to have an understanding of behaviour theory and an ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and other practitioners.

Role summary:

  • Supporting a child presenting SEN, behavioural needs and SEMH needs
  • Knowledge and experience using de-escalation strategies
  • Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health issues
  • Must be patient, resilient and have a firm but fair approach
  • Ability to enforce boundaries and stay consistent
  • You will be supported by another Learning Support Assistant
  • Prior experience dealing with severe behavioural needs and supporting SEN children
