Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a vibrant school in Acton. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ learning and development, working closely with the class teacher to ensure that each student receives the individual attention they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in preparing lessons and materials.
- Support students with their learning on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
- Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
- Work with children across different age groups, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Assist with the planning and execution of individualised education plans (IEPs) for SEN students.
- Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil progress and areas of improvement.
- Help with classroom displays and activities to create an engaging learning space.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunchtime and school trips.
- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals when needed.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children in a school setting (experience with SEN students is desirable).
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Relevant qualifications (such as CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are preferred but not essential for candidates with experience.
Desirable:
- Previous experience supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), such as Autism, ADHD, or learning disabilities.
- Experience in supporting children across Key Stages 1 and 2.
