About the Role:
We are seeking a caring and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly primary school in Hampstead. In this role, you will provide individualised support to a child with special educational needs, ensuring they thrive both academically and emotionally. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement tailored learning strategies and create a positive, inclusive classroom experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEN, adapting activities to suit their individual needs
- Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitoring progress
- Support the child in accessing the full curriculum, promoting their independence and confidence
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SEN team to create a safe and engaging learning environment
- Help with social and emotional development, offering encouragement and guidance throughout the school day
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a 1:1 setting
- A patient, compassionate, and positive attitude
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children, staff, and parents
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support is desirable but not essential
