Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our team in Chiswick. This role involves working closely with students to support positive behaviour, personal development, and academic engagement, especially those who may face challenges in traditional learning environments. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, inclusive space where students can thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in managing their behaviour and developing positive coping strategies.
- Develop individualized behaviour plans and work with students one-on-one or in small groups.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to implement behaviour support interventions.
- Build positive relationships with students, helping to boost their confidence, self-esteem, and social skills.
- Observe, monitor, and report on students’ progress, communicating effectively with staff and, when appropriate, with parents.
- Offer classroom support by helping students engage with their work and maintain focus.
- Run targeted interventions to address specific behavioural challenges.
- Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and in structured environments to encourage positive interactions.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment, promoting respect and positive behaviour throughout the school.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with behavioural challenges or SEN needs in a school or youth setting.
- A background in psychology, education, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience to work with challenging behaviours.
- Ability to remain calm and positive under pressure.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and restorative practices is advantageous.
