A primary school in Thornton Heath is seeking a Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant to support students who require extra guidance. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
The Role:
As a Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide one-on-one and small group support, helping students stay engaged and on track with their learning. You will play a key role in fostering a positive classroom environment and supporting students’ social and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small group support for Year 5 students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
- Assist in adapting lesson materials to make them accessible to all students.
- Promote positive behaviour and help students develop social skills.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching team to monitor and document progress.
- Encourage students’ independence and confidence.
About You:
- Experience supporting SEN students, ideally in Key Stage 2.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies and behaviour management techniques.
- Patient, empathetic, and dedicated to student success.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
