A primary school in Thornton Heath is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Year 6 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs.
The Role:
As a Year 6 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support students preparing for their transition to secondary school. Your role will focus on helping children overcome learning barriers and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support for Year 6 students with SEN, including ADHD, autism, and speech and language difficulties.
- Adapt classroom activities to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Build students’ confidence in academic tasks and social interactions.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to implement support strategies.
- Promote emotional resilience and positive behaviour.
About You:
- Previous experience working with SEN students, especially in Key Stage 2.
- Knowledge of SEN approaches, such as behaviour management and multisensory learning.
- Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping students succeed.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
