Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our team at a vibrant school in Acton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in behaviour management and a passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural challenges, promoting positive attitudes and behaviours.
  • Develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans in collaboration with teaching staff and the SENCO.
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and social interaction.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, self-regulation, and confidence in students.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management throughout the school.
  • Assist in implementing whole-school strategies for improving behaviour and reducing exclusions.
  • Provide support during unstructured times, such as break and lunch, to ensure student safety and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural, emotional, or social challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively.
  • An understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative practices.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Youth Work, or Counselling.
  • Experience working with students with SEN, such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, mindfulness, or trauma-informed practices.
  • Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training certification (or willingness to complete training).
