Are you passionate about helping children who struggle with mental health and challenging behaviour within their education?
Ortus Recruitment are working with a Pupil Referral Unit based in Wandsworth, who are looking for an experienced and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their team in supporting secondary-aged children on a long-term, full-time basis, starting in ASAP.
The school aims to support students who have been excluded or referred to them due to varying levels of social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as behavioural difficulties and aims to offer them a fresh start by creating a safe and inspiring environment.
Due to the needs of the children that attend this school, it would be very desirable if you have previous experience working with children with behavioural needs and/or mental health needs. This will be a very rewarding role and will pay up to £525 per week – PAYE (No Umbrella Companies so no Hidden Fees).
Key attributes of a Behaviour Mentor:
- Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
- Confident in exercising student restraint techniques
- Be able to support students with their academic and personal development.

Responsibilities
- Support children with special educational needs by implementing tailored behaviour management strategies.
- Foster a safe and nurturing environment through effective communication and mentoring.
- Collaborate with educators and parents to develop individualized learning plans.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor progress and adapt strategies as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and maintain accurate records of child development.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills in behaviour management.
