Learning Support Assistant – SEMH School

Location: Purley, Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
A specialist SEMH school in Purley is looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role:

You will provide academic and emotional support to students who require additional guidance due to SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships to support students with SEMH challenges.
  • Provide classroom and pastoral support, helping to manage behaviour and engagement.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Work with teachers and therapists to implement individual support plans.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence and resilience in their learning.

About You:

  • Experience working with SEMH students or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a patient approach.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
  • A proactive and flexible mindset to adapt to different situations.
