A specialist SEN school in Croydon is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), including non-verbal learners.

The Role:

You will work closely with speech and language therapists and teachers to develop pupils’ communication and social skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils with speech and language difficulties using PECS, Makaton, and AAC devices.
• Work one-to-one or in small groups to encourage verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Help implement personalised communication plans in collaboration with therapists.
• Support students in developing social interaction skills.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual communication needs.

About You:

• Experience supporting children with SLCN, ASC, or related SEN needs is desirable.
• Patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills.
• Understanding of alternative communication methods (training provided).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
