Job Advertisement: Behaviour Mentor (Year 6 – SEMH Focus)

Position: Behaviour Mentor (1:1 Support)
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: £90 – £105 (Daily)

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work one-to-one with a Year 6 pupil who requires targeted support due to emotional trauma and frequent emotional outbursts. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build trusting relationships, provide consistent support, and help a child navigate their emotions positively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and behaviour support to a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Implement tailored strategies to help manage emotional outbursts and challenging behaviours.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships to foster trust and emotional security.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external agencies to deliver personalised interventions.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that supports the child’s emotional well-being and academic progress.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, emotional trauma, or behavioural challenges.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach with strong de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations and respond with empathy.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and trauma-informed practices.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, psychology, or a related field.
  • Team Teach or similar de-escalation training (desirable but not essential).
