SEN Teaching Assistant – PRU Support
Location: Thornton Heath, Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Do you have experience working with young people in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)?
A dedicated and nurturing PRU in Thornton Heath is looking for a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to support students who have been excluded from mainstream education.
The Role:
You will provide academic and emotional support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to re-engage with education in a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work one-to-one and in small groups with students facing behavioural and emotional challenges.
- Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies to promote positive engagement.
- Support students with their learning in core subjects such as English and Maths.
- Build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to support student progress.
About You:
- Experience working with students in a PRU or alternative provision setting is desirable.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
- A calm, patient, and understanding approach.
- A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
