Speech & Language Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is excited to partner with a reputable three-form entry primary school in Vauxhall, seeking a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with Global Delay and Speech and Language needs. The role is available after the half-term, with the potential to become permanent if the successful candidate performs well whilst with the school.
In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support the educational and social development of the pupil. You will assist both inside and outside the classroom, helping the child to fully engage in school activities and providing tailored support for their learning and social integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-on-one support to a pupil in Year 5 with Global Delay and Speech and Language needs
- Assisting the pupil’s educational and social development under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo
- Supporting the pupil’s participation in classroom activities and interactions with peers
- Promoting the pupil’s emotional well-being and social integration within the school community
The Ideal Candidate:
- A graduate with experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, specifically Global Delay
- Proven experience providing one-to-one support, ideally with children who have speech and language or developmental delays
- Empathy, patience, and a strong understanding of the needs of children with SEN
- The ability to encourage and engage students to help them succeed in both academic and social settings
