SEN TA – SEMH Support (Year 5)

Location: Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
A welcoming primary school in Croydon is looking for a patient and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 student with SEMH challenges.

The Role:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Help the student manage emotions, build self-esteem, and develop coping strategies.
  • Use positive behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Encourage engagement in learning through a structured and supportive approach.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and class teacher to implement individual support plans.

About You:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • A calm, consistent, and patient approach to support emotional regulation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques is an advantage.
