Job Description:

Ortus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs (SEN) in a primary school setting. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and patient individual to make a real difference in a child’s learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to children with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other learning needs.
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials to suit individual needs.
• Encourage social interaction and engagement in learning.
• Implement EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) strategies under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
• Support children with emotional regulation and behaviour management in line with school policies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the child.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or working with children with SEN is desirable.
• A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Certificate, or equivalent) is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, patient, and flexible attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
