A welcoming primary school in Croydon is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 2 student with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role involves providing structured learning support and sensory regulation strategies to enhance the child’s educational experience.

The Role:

• Work one-to-one with a Year 2 child with autism, ensuring they feel supported and engaged in the classroom.
• Implement structured routines, visual timetables, and sensory strategies.
• Support communication and social interaction using PECS, Makaton, or other visual aids.
• Work closely with the SENCO, teacher, and external professionals to tailor support strategies.
• Assist in transitions throughout the school day to create a positive learning environment.

About You:

• Experience supporting children with autism in a school setting is desirable.
• Knowledge of visual supports, social stories, and communication aids is beneficial.
• A patient and nurturing approach to learning support.
• Strong teamwork and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
