Location: Thornton Heath, Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
A supportive primary school in Thornton Heath is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 student with SEMH needs and associated behavioural challenges.

The Role:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support emotional regulation and social development through targeted interventions.
  • Assist in managing transitions and minimising classroom disruptions.

About You:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges is desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour support.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A passion for making a positive impact on children’s education and wellbeing.
