A friendly and inclusive primary school in Croydon is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 student with speech and language delays. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact on a child’s communication and learning development.

The Role:

• Work one-to-one with a Year 1 student who has speech and language difficulties, helping to develop communication skills.
• Implement speech and language therapy exercises under the guidance of the SENCO and external professionals.
• Use visual aids, Makaton, and other strategies to support understanding and expression.
• Encourage social interaction and participation in classroom activities.
• Work closely with the teacher to adapt learning materials to support language development.

About You:

• Experience supporting children with speech and language needs is desirable.
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies is a plus.
• A patient, encouraging, and engaging approach to learning support.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
