A welcoming primary school in Croydon is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 student with ASC, helping them access the curriculum in a structured and supportive learning environment.

The Role:

• Provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 student with ASC, adapting learning materials to their needs.
• Implement visual schedules, social stories, and structured routines to aid learning.
• Use communication tools such as PECS or Makaton to support interaction.
• Work closely with the SENCO and class teacher to develop personalised strategies.
• Foster a calm and supportive classroom environment, ensuring the student feels safe and engaged.

About You:

• Experience supporting children with autism is desirable.
• Knowledge of structured teaching approaches such as TEACCH is a bonus.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to SEN support.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
