Mainstream Primary School in Earlsfield, Term-Time Only (39 Weeks per Year), (08:30am – 04:00pm, Monday to Friday)

Ortus Recruitment is delighted to partner with a welcoming and dynamic primary school in Earlsfield to recruit a passionate and dedicated Primary Teaching & Learning Support Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the classroom by supporting children’s learning and development, including those with significant needs.

About the Role
As a Primary Teaching & Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support children with their learning in a classroom setting. You may also provide additional support to a child with significant needs, ensuring that their individual requirements are met. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative team within a supportive school environment.

The role is term-time only (39 weeks per year) and requires 25 hours per week, from 08:50am to 03:20pm, Monday to Friday. Additionally, there may be the opportunity to work as a midday meal supervisor for one hour per day, providing an opportunity for extra income.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom-based support to children, assisting them with their learning and development.
  • Support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and other individual needs.
  • Implement and deliver effective interventions tailored to the individual needs of learners.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members to ensure the success of all students.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in a relevant field (essential).
  • Experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally in a mainstream school, specialist provision, or other relevant settings.
  • Experience working with children with SEND is desirable, including knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills to support learning.
  • Ability to plan and implement effective learning interventions for children.
  • A professional manner, with excellent communication skills and a friendly, enthusiastic approach.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
