A primary school in Thornton Heath is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
The Role:
- Provide one-to-one support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs, promoting emotional well-being.
- Use de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
- Build a trusting relationship to help the pupil engage in learning.
- Encourage resilience, social skills, and self-regulation.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO and external professionals.
About You:
- Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural challenges.
- Understanding of emotional regulation techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
