SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support Y6

Location: Thornton Heath, Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Do you have experience supporting children with SEMH needs?
A primary school in Thornton Heath is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies.

The Role:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs, promoting emotional well-being.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
  • Build a trusting relationship to help the pupil engage in learning.
  • Encourage resilience, social skills, and self-regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO and external professionals.

About You:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural challenges.
  • Understanding of emotional regulation techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
