Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school located near Alexandra Palace in Haringey. The school is currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This full-time position is ideal for someone who thrives in KS1 settings and is committed to making a meaningful impact during the early years of a child’s education.

The Role:

• Providing consistent 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with ASC
• Supporting classroom engagement and promoting communication and interaction
• Following the pupil’s Individual Support Plan, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
• Supporting emotional regulation, sensory needs, and transitions throughout the day
• Helping to build a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment
• Being flexible and open to working with other year groups and classes, as needed by the school

Ideal Candidate:

• CACHE Level 3 (or equivalent), or at least 1 year of experience in a school or similar educational setting
• Must have prior experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly Autism
• Experience working with children in Key Stage 1
• Confident, consistent, and patient approach to supporting behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Flexible, adaptable, and willing to support across different year groups when required
• Good understanding of child development and a passion for inclusive education
• A positive team player who works well with teachers, SENCOs, and families
