Ortus Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a forward-thinking primary school in Balham, South London, to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about nurturing young minds and promoting positive behavioural development in an inclusive, primary school setting.
The opportunity
In this vital role, you will work closely with pupils who may be facing social, emotional, or behavioural barriers to learning. Youβll provide targeted support and interventions to help them succeed both inside and outside the classroom, while also contributing to a calm, focused learning environment across the school.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, focusing on behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills
- Implementing school-wide and individualised behaviour strategies under the guidance of teaching and pastoral staff
- Building trusted relationships with students to promote self-esteem, resilience, and personal growth
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and families to ensure joined-up support for each child
- Encouraging an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom experience for all learners
What Weβre Looking For:
- Prior experience supporting children with behavioural or emotional needs, preferably within a school setting
- A calm, empathetic, and professional approach to behaviour management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A proactive, solution-driven mindset with the ability to remain composed under pressure
- Relevant training or qualifications in behaviour support or SEND (desirable but not essential)
