Ortus Recruitment is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Lewisham who are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Classroom Assistant to join their team full-time. This rewarding position is based within the school’s dedicated Resource Base, supporting pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and other additional needs.This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and proactive support assistant who thrives in a specialist provision environment and is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role:

As a Classroom Assistant within the Resource Base, you will:

• Support pupils with SEN both individually and in small groups
• Deliver targeted interventions including social skills, life skills, and tailored educational programmes
• Work closely with the class teacher to reinforce learning strategies and manage classroom routines
• Promote resilience, independence, and confidence in each learner
• Model inclusive practices and adapt approaches to meet the diverse needs of pupils
• Maintain a calm and supportive presence, especially when faced with challenging behaviour or new situations

• Experienced in working with children with SEND, particularly within an MLD setting (desirable)
• Enthusiastic, adaptable and confident in managing varied learning and behaviour needs
• Skilled in literacy, numeracy, IT, and with strong communication skills

• Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a nurturing approach
• Ready to contribute positively to a collaborative and forward-thinking team
