Classroom Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is working closely with a dynamic and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wandsworth that is seeking a full-time Classroom Assistant to join their dedicated team. This role may involve a mix of classroom-based support and working one-to-one or with small groups, depending on the needs of the school. The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support classroom learning under the guidance of the class teacher
- Provide tailored assistance to pupils, including those with additional needs or EHCPs
- Foster independence and confidence in all learners
- Assist in delivering interventions for individuals or small groups
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Contribute to wider school activities and enrichment opportunities
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
- Has experience working with children in schools or similar settings
- Is empathetic, adaptable, and committed to inclusion
- Can build strong, respectful relationships with pupils and staff
- Is confident supporting learning across the primary age range
- Has strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills
- Understands safeguarding responsibilities and upholds professional boundaries
Qualifications
- Recent Graduate
- Minimum of GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- First Aid training is desirable (or a willingness to undertake it)
