Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the life of a child with autism? Do you have the patience, empathy, and resilience to support a young learner with complex needs?

We are working with a caring and inclusive primary school that is seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with autism. The child has limited verbal communication, becomes easily overwhelmed, and can become dysregulated in busy or unfamiliar environments.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing consistent, one-to-one support throughout the school day
  • Using visual aids, sensory strategies, and calm communication to aid understanding and reduce anxiety
  • Creating a safe and predictable learning space
  • Supporting emotional regulation and responding calmly to challenging behaviour
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and outside professionals to implement individual support strategies

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with autism and communication difficulties
  • Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or other alternative communication methods (advantageous)
  • Calm, empathetic, and adaptable in high-pressure situations
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and child development

This is an incredibly rewarding role where your support will make a real difference each day. If you’re ready to help a child feel seen, understood, and supported—we want to hear from you.
