Classroom Assistant (September 2025 Start)
Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Earlsfield. The school is looking to appoint a Classroom Assistant to join their team from September 2025 on a full-time, long-term basis. Trials are being held immediately to ensure the right candidate is secured ahead of the new academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils within a Key Stage 1 classroom environment. The role is particularly suited to someone who is passionate about helping children with SEN and is exploring a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or SEND specialism.
Role Overview:
You will support class teachers and the school’s SEND team, helping pupils to access learning, manage transitions, and build confidence and independence academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teachers to support inclusive, high-quality teaching
- Provide focused support to pupils with SEND, EAL, or additional learning needs
- Support the delivery of IEPs and Behaviour Support Plans
- Encourage positive relationships and personal development among pupils
- Assist in classroom preparation and organisation
- Supervise children during unstructured times (e.g., playtimes/lunchtimes)
- Help track progress and contribute to feedback and record-keeping
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children in a school or childcare setting
- Good numeracy and literacy (GCSEs in English & Maths – Grade C/4 or above)
- Calm, proactive, and flexible approach
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs
- First Aid or other specialist training
