Ortus Recruitment is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support Year 3 and Year 5 pupils in a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Bermondsey. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about child development and keen to support students academically and emotionally.

👩‍🏫 Your Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the class teacher in daily lesson planning
• Deliver 1:1 and small group support to children, including those with learning difficulties
• Prepare and maintain the classroom environment before and after lessons
• Handle light admin duties – filing, photocopying, displaying work, note recording
• Monitor and ensure the wellbeing, health and safety of all children
• Build positive, communicative relationships with parents, pupils, and staff
• Support lunchtime/play activities and encourage creative engagement
• Assist with behaviour management, encouraging positive learning attitudes

✅ We’re Looking for Someone Who:

• Has prior experience working with children in a school setting
• Can support children’s emotional, social and mental health
• Is patient, empathetic and dependable
• Has experience supporting children with SEN (preferred)
• Can confidently work across both Year 3 and Year 5
• Thrives in a team and communicates well with both children and adults

🎓 Preferred but Not Essential:

• Relevant qualifications or a degree in education or childcare
• Experience working in Key Stage 2 or with SEN children
