Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working with a number of well-regarded mainstream primary schools in the Stockwell area, who are currently looking to welcome SEN Classroom Assistants to their teams for an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for supporting children with SEN, particularly those with conditions such as autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties. If you’re experienced in providing both academic and personal care support, and you’re ready to jump into a rewarding school-based role, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Offer tailored communication and physical support based on individual student needs
• Assist pupils in fully engaging with the curriculum and wider school activities
• Work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to support targeted learning strategies
• Help prepare and deliver learning interventions and structured classroom activities
• Support pupils’ emotional, cognitive, and social development
• Attend to students’ personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and feeding when required
• Participate in reviews, meetings, and progress updates with the wider SEN team
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and engagement

Requirements:

• Prior experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities (e.g. ASD, ADHD)
• Background in education, youth work, or health & social care is highly desirable
• Comfortable providing personal care to students with high or complex needs
• Must be available for immediate start
• Able to commit to the working hours from 08:30am – 4pm from Monday to Friday
• Valid Right to Work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or issued within the month
