Early Years Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Southfields, who are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their growing team for an immediate start. This is a full-time, long-term role until the end of the academic year and would be well suited to a recent graduate with experience working with children across various age groups in childcare, education, or youth development settings. It is also a great opportunity for a qualified nursery practitioner looking to transition into a primary school environment.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Early Years team to support the academic and personal development of children in Nursery and/or Reception. You will play a vital role in helping to create a warm, supportive, and stimulating environment where all children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children’s learning and development through play-based and structured activities.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of early years curriculum under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Encourage and support communication, social interaction, and independence.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent graduate with relevant childcare/education experience, or a nursery practitioner seeking experience in a school setting.
  • Experience working with young children in nursery, reception, or other early years settings.
  • A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting early childhood development.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
  • A passion for working with young learners and helping them thrive in their first years of school.
