Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Streatham, who are looking to welcome a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to their team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs and making a real difference in the classroom.

The school supports pupils from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds and offers a positive, well-managed learning environment where behaviour for learning is strong. Staff are supportive, collaborative, and committed to pupil wellbeing and academic progress.

Your role will include:

• Supporting pupils within the classroom under the guidance of the Class Teacher
• Working one-to-one or in small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence
• Assisting with classroom activities and practical learning tasks
• Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
• Supporting children’s emotional and pastoral development
• Helping prepare learning resources and classroom displays
• Providing lesson cover when required
• Being flexible to work across different year groups within the primary school

We are looking for someone who:

• Is enthusiastic, reliable, and adaptable
• Has a genuine interest in working with children and supporting learning
• Can work well as part of a team and use initiative when needed
• Remains calm, positive, and organised in a busy school environment
• Has strong communication and listening skills

Ideal candidate:

• A graduate or someone with relevant qualifications for working with children
• Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support role is desirable, but not essential
