Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a supportive mainstream primary school in Tooting, who are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join their team immediately. The school is known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong support systems, with consistently positive feedback from previous candidates.

The Role

You will be working primarily in Key Stage 2, supporting a pupil with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and behaviour challenges. This role suits someone who can build strong relationships, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils remain engaged with learning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the child’s emotional and behavioural needs throughout the school day
• Assisting with KS2 classwork and learning activities
• Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
• Supporting other pupils in the classroom when required
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
• Providing regular feedback to staff and, where appropriate, parents

Requirements

• Experience working in a primary school classroom
• Knowledge of the KS2 curriculum
• Confidence in managing behaviour and implementing support strategies
• SEN or SEMH experience, or a strong willingness to work in this area
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively
• Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
