Are you an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children in Reception within a mainstream primary school?

Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wandsworth that is seeking a Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team on a full-time and long-term basis working from Monday to Friday from 08:30am till 4pm. The successful candidate will be supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based learning while helping children develop early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills. You will contribute to a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment where children can thrive. This role is suited to someone who is confident working specifically in Reception, understands the EYFS framework, and enjoys supporting children during this vital stage of their development.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting learning in line with the EYFS curriculum
• Working with small groups and individual pupils within Reception
• Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
• Supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development
• Assisting with classroom organisation, resources, and daily routines
• Observing and supporting pupils’ progress under teacher guidance

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
• Proven experience working in Reception within a primary school
• A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach
• Strong understanding of early years practice and child development
• Reliability, commitment, and a team-focused mindset
