Ortus Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a friendly and forward-thinking primary school in Wimbledon that is looking to appoint a full-time Classroom Assistant to join their team on an immediate basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on in the classroom and wants to play a key part in supporting pupils’ learning, confidence, and wellbeing throughout the school day.

About the Role

Working closely with class teachers and support staff, you will:

• Assist with day-to-day classroom activities and learning tasks
• Provide individual and small group support, including for pupils with EHCPs
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement
• Support targeted interventions to help pupils reach key milestones
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment
• Take part in wider school life, including enrichment activities

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children in a school or similar setting
• Brings a calm, patient, and flexible approach to learning support
• Communicates confidently with pupils, staff, and parents
• Is comfortable supporting children across the primary age range
• Demonstrates strong basic skills in literacy, numeracy, and ICT
• Understands safeguarding expectations within a school environment

Requirements

• Recent graduate or candidate with relevant child-based experience
• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• First Aid training is advantageous, or willingness to complete it
