Ortus Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Tooting who are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join their specialist ASD Resource Base. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-resourced, specialist provision within a mainstream setting, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant within the Resource Base, you will:

• Support pupils with ASC to access learning and develop independence
• Assist in delivering tailored learning activities in line with EHCP outcomes
• Implement strategies recommended by OT and SaLT professionals
• Support sensory regulation using specialist resources and spaces
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Encourage communication and social interaction
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND, particularly ASC
• Is patient, proactive, and resilient
• Understands strategies to support communication and sensory needs
• Can build strong, consistent relationships with pupils
• Works well as part of a collaborative team
• Is committed to inclusive education
• Is available with a maximum 1-week notice period

Training in areas such as Autism, behaviour support, speech and language strategies, or sensory integration is highly desirable.
