Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established specialist school in Streatham, dedicated to supporting pupils with additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment for students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). They are seeking a committed and proactive Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

About the Role:

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Work closely with class teachers to raise attainment and support student progress
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
• Promote pupils’ independence, confidence and social inclusion
• Support students in accessing a broad and balanced curriculum
• Assist with behaviour management in line with school policies
• Support pupils with personal care where required
• Contribute to students’ pastoral care and wellbeing
• Prepare learning resources and classroom environments
• Communicate effectively with staff regarding pupils’ readiness for learning

You will play a vital role in ensuring pupils feel safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous school-based experience (essential)
• Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• A willingness to provide personal care
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
• A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

A one-week notice period is required, as the school is looking for someone who can start immediately.
