Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a forward-thinking and inclusive school in Clapham, seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where pupils thrive academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers, parents and the SENCO to ensure pupils receive the targeted support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Support:

• Deliver targeted learning programmes, setting high expectations while promoting independence and confidence
• Support inclusion by encouraging collaboration and positive peer interaction
• Work with the SENCO and teachers to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Adapt and develop learning resources for EAL and SEND pupils
• Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group intervention sessions
• Plan and lead booster sessions to support pupils with challenging topics
• Observe, record and provide feedback on pupil progress
• Support whole class teaching and provide class cover when required
• Use behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
• Support learning beyond the classroom (library, ICT suite, intervention spaces)

Pastoral & Wider School Support:

• Supervise pupils during break and lunch times
• Provide pastoral care and emotional support where needed
• Accompany pupils on school trips and external activities
• Promote safeguarding and student welfare at all times
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working in a school setting
• Experience supporting SEND and/or EAL pupils
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence leading small group interventions
• Good organisational and behaviour management skills
• A proactive, patient and resilient approach
• A genuine passion for supporting young people
