Ortus Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in a primary school or Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting who is passionate about supporting children’s development and learning!

The successful candidate will support pupils from a range of backgrounds, including those with Special Educational Needs, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons
• Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to reinforce learning
• Provide targeted support for children with SEN
• Assist pupils with classwork, reading, and structured learning activities
• Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
• Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Prepare learning resources and assist with general classroom organisation
• Liaise effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents where required
• Assist with extracurricular activities and after-school clubs when needed

Requirements:

• Previous face-to-face experience working with children in a classroom setting (preferred)
• Experience supporting children with SEN, both 1:1 and in group settings (preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A flexible, proactive, and patient approach
• Ability to manage behaviour positively and professionally
• A strong work ethic and genuine passion for supporting children from diverse backgrounds

Please note: Candidates must be open to working in either a mainstream primary school or an SEN specialist setting
