Teaching Assistant
Location: Lewisham
Salary: £89.00 – £105.00 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time | Long-Term (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm)
Start Date: Immediate
Ortus Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in a primary school or Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting who is passionate about supporting children’s development and learning!
The successful candidate will support pupils from a range of backgrounds, including those with Special Educational Needs, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons
- Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to reinforce learning
- Provide targeted support for children with SEN
- Assist pupils with classwork, reading, and structured learning activities
- Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Prepare learning resources and assist with general classroom organisation
- Liaise effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents where required
- Assist with extracurricular activities and after-school clubs when needed
Requirements:
- Previous face-to-face experience working with children in a classroom setting (preferred)
- Experience supporting children with SEN, both 1:1 and in group settings (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible, proactive, and patient approach
- Ability to manage behaviour positively and professionally
- A strong work ethic and genuine passion for supporting children from diverse backgrounds
Please note: Candidates must be open to working in either a mainstream primary school or an SEN specialist setting
