This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including communication difficulties and varying learning needs. The school provides tailored education for pupils who require additional structure, support, and personalised learning approaches. Staff work closely together to ensure pupils feel safe, engaged, and supported both academically and socially. Role Details

• Position: SEN Classroom Assistant
• Location: London Borough of Lambeth
• Start Date: Immediate (candidates must have a maximum one-week notice period)
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 08:30am – 4:00pm
• Contract: Full-time, long-term, term-time only
• Pay: £93 – £107 per day (PAYE – No Umbrella Payments/No Hidden Deductions)

About the Role
As an SEN Classroom Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with a range of learning and communication needs, from mild to more complex difficulties. Some pupils may be non-verbal or require additional support with communication and understanding, meaning patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to pupils with SEN
• Assist with adapted learning activities and personalised support strategies
• Encourage communication, engagement, and participation in lessons
• Support pupils who experience speech and language or communication difficulties
• Use supportive strategies such as visual learning aids or structured communication systems
• Assist pupils with daily routines and personal care when required (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing)
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to maintain a positive and structured learning environment
• Monitor and report pupil progress and wellbeing

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
• Familiarity with communication support strategies such as visual aids, phonics, or alternative communication systems is advantageous
• Comfortable supporting pupils who may require personal care
• Patient, nurturing, and able to build strong relationships with pupils
• Adaptable and proactive in a specialist education environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Holds an enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willing to obtain one)

Due to the fast-paced recruitment process, candidates who are successful at trial will be expected to start immediately.
