Ortus Recruitment is currently working with a supportive primary school in the London Borough of Merton, looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant

In this role, you will be supporting children across the primary age range, with a focus on pupils with Autism, Speech & Language needs, and learning difficulties.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
• Assisting the class teacher with lessons and classroom activities
• Supporting children in developing their social and communication skills
• Helping to manage behaviour in a calm and positive manner
• Supervising pupils during break and lunch times
• Tracking and reporting on pupil progress

This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in a child’s development and confidence.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working with children with SEN (e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech & language needs)
• A positive, patient, and caring attitude
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and wellbeing

Qualifications such as a Degree or NVQ/Level 3 in Childcare are welcomed but not essential.
