Location: Lewisham/willing to travel to nearby boroughs
Schedule: Full-time | Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
Salary: £90 – £105 per day (depending on experience)

Ortus Recruitment is seeking a compassionate, proactive, and experienced Classroom Assistant to join a vibrant team in a welcoming SEN primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham.
If you have experience working in a nursery, early years, or primary classroom, and you’re passionate about supporting the learning and wellbeing of young children, this could be the perfect role for you!
Your Role Will Include:
Teaching & Learning Support
- Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging learning activities
- Provide tailored support to small groups and individual pupils
- Offer focused support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Classroom & Administrative Duties
- Help prepare and maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
- Tidy and organise learning materials throughout the day
- Support with admin tasks such as photocopying, filing, and displaying student work
Child & Family Support
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage emotional and social development
- Maintain strong communication with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom atmosphere
General Support
- Monitor children’s safety and wellbeing, always ensuring a safe environment
- Support with lunchtime/play supervision and activities
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous classroom-based experience in EYFS, nursery, or Key Stage 1
- Experience supporting SEN children
- A genuine commitment to the emotional, mental, and academic development of children
- Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a nurturing nature
- Willing to work flexibly – EYFS, Key stage 1, Key Stage 2
