Ortus Recruitment is currently recruiting for a dedicated and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Streatham. This full-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced HLTA seeking a new challenge within a supportive school environment or looking to secure a long-term role with the potential for permanent employment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the school’s inclusion provision, assisting pupils across the primary age range and providing classroom cover when required. The school has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and prides itself on creating a positive and engaging learning environment for both staff and pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across the curriculum
• Provide classroom cover in the absence of the class teacher when required
• Deliver targeted interventions and support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining a stimulating learning environment
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
• Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development
• Take part in the wider school community, including assemblies, trips, sports activities, and enrichment programmes
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events where appropriate

Requirements:

• HLTA qualification or previous experience working in a similar role within a primary school
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Passionate about supporting children to reach their full potential
