The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication and interaction difficulties, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and associated social and emotional needs.

The Role:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN and communication needs
  • Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports pupil progress and emotional wellbeing
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil development, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, speech and language needs, social communication difficulties, and additional learning barriers
  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and senior leadership staff to achieve the best outcomes for pupils
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour through consistent support and relationship-building
  • Developing and implementing personalised learning strategies and interventions
  • Maintaining high expectations for pupil achievement, engagement, and behaviour
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and external professionals

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • A recognised teaching qualification and experience teaching within UK schools
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and inclusive teaching approaches
  • Ability to effectively differentiate lessons to meet a range of learning needs
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork abilities
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with additional needs

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience working within an SEN school, resource provision, or alternative provision
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, speech and language needs, or complex learning difficulties
  • Experience delivering interventions and personalised learning plans
  • Experience working alongside therapists, educational psychologists, or external agencies
  • A background teaching across either primary or secondary age groups
