About the Role

Ortus Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming independent primary school in Lewisham. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who enjoys supporting children’s learning and development within a classroom environment.

Working closely with the class teacher, you will play a key role in helping pupils achieve their full potential while contributing to a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.

Essential Requirements

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (preferred)
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A caring, patient, and supportive approach
• Commitment to promoting children’s emotional, social, and mental wellbeing
• Ability to work effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
• Experience working with children with SEND (essential)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to the teacher during lessons and daily activities
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions to support pupil progress
• Assist children with additional learning needs and behavioural challenges
• Prepare learning resources and maintain an organised classroom environment
• Complete administrative tasks including photocopying, filing, and recording pupil progress
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers to support children’s development
• Ensure the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all pupils at all times
• Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and engagement
• Support the smooth running of classroom activities throughout the school day

Candidates holding a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are strongly encouraged to apply.
