Are you a recent graduate with a passion for supporting young people and making a meaningful impact in the classroom?
A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Peckham is seeking a dedicated Graduate Learning Mentor to join their team. This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, counsellors, and education professionals to gain invaluable hands-on experience within a school environment.
You’ll work closely with students, teachers, and pastoral teams to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
The Opportunity
As a Graduate Learning Mentor, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students’ academic progress, personal development, and overall wellbeing.
Academic Intervention & Support
- Deliver targeted intervention sessions to raise attainment and close learning gaps
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support across a range of subjects
- Encourage positive learning behaviours and student engagement
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, and independent learning skills
Student Mentoring & Pastoral Support
- Build strong, positive relationships with students across different year groups
- Support pupils with motivation, attendance, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing
- Act as a trusted mentor and positive role model
- Work alongside pastoral staff to promote student success both inside and outside the classroom
Classroom-Based Experience
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Assist students with varying learning needs and abilities
- Help create a positive, safe, and productive learning environment
- Gain valuable insight into effective classroom practice and behaviour management strategies
Who We’re Looking For
We are keen to hear from graduates who are:
Educated to degree level (Education, Psychology, English, Maths, Humanities, Science or related subjects welcomed)
Passionate about supporting children and young people
Considering a future career in Teaching, Educational Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Speech & Language Therapy, or Education
Confident, proactive, and able to build strong relationships
Excellent communicators with strong interpersonal skills
Resilient, adaptable, and eager to learn
Experienced working with young people in schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or voluntary settings
